Our Work Health + Safety practice provides a wide range of advice for organisations that operate in Tasmania.  In addition to providing advice in respect to existing obligations, we increasingly assist employers understand the changes that will occur upon the introduction of national model work health and safety laws.

Some examples of the types of matters in which we provide advice include:

  • Risk management, including identification, assessment and control of risk;
  • Review and development of OHS management systems, including OHS policy;
  • Specific duties and obligations relating to workplace health and safety under the Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995, including application of codes of practice;
  • Injury management (in particular, long-term injured employees), including obligations imposed by the Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988;
  • Rights of entry for OHS access card holders and associated responsibilities under the Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995;
  • The composition and functions of health and safety committees, the role of employees' safety representatives, and the associated duties of employers;
  • Effect of the Workplace Health and Safety Amendment (Mine Safety) Act 2010, in particular the requirement for, and duties of, a mine operator and site senior officer;
